9th Annual APRU Research Conference on Population Aging

Hosted by the HKUST Institute for Emerging Market Studies, the 9th Annual Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Research Conference on Population Aging will be held on December 7-8, 2018 at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. The theme of this year’s conference is “Dementia, Cognition, and Healthy and Productive Aging”.  

 

Call for Abstracts

The conference welcomes submission of papers or 3-page extended abstracts for paper presentations at the conference. Submissions on all topics related to population aging are welcome, especially on the following topics:

  • Dementia and cognitive function of the elderly, including measurement, determinants, and consequences for work and elderly care
  • Health care and long-term care
  • Extending working lives, pensions, and retirement
  • Elderly well-being, including economic, social, and physical and mental health

The deadline for submissions is September 1st, and notifications of accepted papers will be sent by September 15th. It is expected that full papers will be available for circulation by the time of the conference.

Expenses for hotel and meals will be covered by the conference.

A special session will be organized for PhD student research presentations. Students can apply for financial support for travel by requesting such support and noting any special circumstances when they submit their papers. Funds are limited, so students are strongly encouraged to seek other sources of support.
