Call for Proposals – IEMS GBA Research Grants 2026

The Institute invites proposals for the IEMS Greater Bay Area Research Program 2026.

Since 2013 the HKUST IEMS Research Grants have supported high-quality research that provides valuable insights into the challenges facing societies, businesses and governments in emerging markets. In 2026 round, the institute gives priority to research proposals in the following areas:

  1. Disruptive Technology; Artificial Intelligence in business applications, digital economy
  2. Human Capital, Employment, Labour Market, Labour Skills
  3. Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  4. Northern Metropolis Development; Cross-border flow
  5. Public Health and Aging; Digital Health
  6. Smart cities, clean energy
  7. Economic development and finance
  8. ESG; Green Finance: Fintech; Sustainability

Applications from all HKUST faculty (including Research Assistant Professor and Assistant Professors) are welcome. Other than the topic's relevance, the selection of research proposal will be influenced by their 1) Potential impact on business practices and implications on policy-making; 2) Quality of research; 3) Originality; 4) Records and timeliness in completing the deliverables of past IEMS grants.

The deadline for proposals is 23:59 Thursday April 30, 2026. Application form is attached. Decisions will be announced in June 2026. All applications must follow the guidelines available attached.
