Joey is responsible for the Institute’s daily operation and administration including budget and research grants management, event management, staffing as well as providing committee services to the institute.

Before joining the Institute, she served in the University’s branding team and she has diverse project management experience including renovate the university website, establish and grow the university’s social media platforms, refurbish the information center and souvenir shop. She was also experienced in organizing large-scale events such as Distinguished Speakers Series, Consul General Talk series, Nobel Prize Winner talk.

Carla formulates and implements the Institute's communications and outreach strategies, which cover print publications, web, social media, events, digital marketing & public relations. She has several years of experience in leading and executing integrated marketing/communications campaigns in PR agencies, with most of her clients in the technology and consumer sectors. She was previously Event Manager at Habitat for Humanity, an NGO dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness, and a journalist covering the enterprise technology beat at PC Market, one of Hong Kong ‘s most influential IT publications.

Carla is an active member of the local blogosphere. She sat on the organising committee of Punch Party Hong Kong, a pioneering social event organized by and for local bloggers. She also provides voluntary translation, public relations and event support to local charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Carla loves singing. She has sung in the Chorus of Opera Hong Kong’s productions of La Traviata, Les contes d’Hoffmann and Tosca, and is now a member of the HKUST Staff Choir. Her next operatic ambition is to put her baby girl to sleep singing Bizet’s Carmen.
