HKUST IEMS Director attends the Summer Davos in Dalian

Prof. Albert Park, Director of HKUST IEMS, attended the 7th Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2013 on September 11-12, 2013 in Dalian. He was part of a delegation from HKUST led by President Tony Chan and Vice President Eden Woon that led an interdisciplinary IdeasLab session on "Breakthroughs in Brain Research with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology." Other HKUST team members were Dean Nancy Ip, Prof. Mingjie Zhang, and Prof. Karl Tsim Wah-Keung.

Also known as the “Summer Davos”, the Meeting is the foremost global business gathering in Asia, organized by the World Economic Forum. It creates a unique opportunity for exchange between leaders from top-ranked multinationals and chief executive officers of dynamic and fast-growing companies, including key decision-makers from government, media, academia and civil society.

The Summer Davos 2013 brought together more than 1,500 participants from 90 countries to share strategies and solutions and discuss global issues and risks. Premier Li Keqiang of China addressed the opening session and the New Champion communities – including Global Growth Companies, Young Global Leaders, Young Scientists, Technology Pioneers, Social Entrepreneurs and the World Economic Forum’s youngest community, the Global Shapers – engaged with Forum Members and Partners.

Prof. Park gave a presentation on "Cognition, Extended Working Life and Rethinking the Demographic Transition" as part of the HKUST IdeasLab session and served as rapporteur for a session on "Strategic Shifts in the Healthcare Ecosystem".
