Low shares insights on companies aiming to relocate to Singapore

In January 2021, the parent of fashion brands The North Face, Timberland, and Vans said it was moving its regional operations out of Hong Kong. The pace of such announcements has picked up with more international companies in Hong Kong venting their displeasure with the territory's draconian COVID policies and signaling their intention to move employees elsewhere. "Hong Kong is the door to the massive Chinese market and its financial networks built up over the last few decades are not easy to replicate", says Donald Low, director of the Institute for Emerging Market Studies at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
