We are excited to announce that our faculty associate, ECON Adjunct Professor Alicia Garcia-Herrero, has participated in the Asia Society's Oxford Debate titled "Is India Ready to Replace China as the Engine of Global Growth?" In this engaging discussion, Prof. Garcia-Herrero argued in favor of the motion, highlighting India's potential as the world's fastest-growing emerging market.
India's economic reforms, investments in physical and digital infrastructure, and youthful labor force position it favorably for collaboration with countries seeking to diversify their supply chains away from China. However, challenges remain, including a less labor-intensive manufacturing sector and a complex regulatory environment.
