Top-heavy age structure in China may soon bring economic difficulties, warns Park on 21CN

IEMS Director Albert Park was interviewed by the 21st Century Business Herald magazine on the topic of population and demographic growth in mainland China. In the article, Prof. Park stated that the mainland populated aged 60 and above would double to 30% over the next 20-30 years. Coupled with a low fertility rate, the nation would soon experience economic difficulties as China’s age structure becomes severely top-heavy within the coming decades.
