Chancay Port Enhances Trade Efficiency Between China and Latin America, says Prof Naubahar Sharif

The recent inauguration of the US$3.5 billion Chancay port in Peru is set to transform trade between China and Latin America by significantly reducing shipping times and costs. This megaport will enhance Chinese e-commerce in the region, cutting transit times from Shanghai to Peru to about 23 days and logistics costs by at least 20%. Professor Naubahar Sharif, Head and Professor of the Division of Public Policy at HKUST, stated that the new port will improve the efficiency and scale of trade between Latin America and China, and potentially extend its impact more broadly across Asia.
