In a recent article by the South China Morning Post, Professor Naubahar Sharif, Head of Public Policy , provided insights into the implications of US President Donald Trump's spending freeze on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Prof. Sharif emphasized that the cessation of US aid programs has created a significant void in global support for developing countries. He pointed out that while China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is not classified as aid, it offers vital infrastructure, energy, and clean water projects that could help fill this gap.
